Project Overview
Six weeks before the 2016 Final Four, we signed on as a partner with teams at MKTG and Pearl Media to be the technical execution team for an immersive experience that simulates the environment of shooting the game-winning free throw. AT&T—the official brand sponsor of the Final Four—wanted fans to capture the emotion of being at the game by helping them experience how it felt. Within 30 seconds of the fan taking their shot and leaving the experience, we had a video completed and compressed for the web, ready to share in their email.
Making this happen required a lot of programming. We worked with the SDK for the Atlas Wristband, a third-party video card, and some human interaction to be able to capture the action. We also wrote a custom program to stitch several video assets and templates together, encode, compress, and upload the video in a matter of seconds.
